- We don't ask for accounts and don't collect your name, email address or phone number.
- Your photos and videos are processed entirely on your device and never uploaded to us.
- ClipTools is free and supported by ads from Google AdMob and its advertising partner InMobi. Usage analytics, crash reports and ads are provided by the services described below.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, files, or any account data — because ClipTools has no accounts. No server of ours ever receives your media. ClipTools never asks for your device's location; the approximate location mentioned under the ad services below is estimated by them from your IP address.
Data collected by third-party SDKs
ClipTools uses Google's Firebase and AdMob services, and InMobi as an advertising partner through AdMob. It contains no other third-party SDKs.
- Firebase Analytics — collects usage events, such as a screen being opened, which tool you picked a video into, whether an export started, finished, failed or was cancelled, whether you shared or opened the result, and taps on "Rate", "Share" and "Send feedback". These events never include file names, file contents, video data, file paths or anything that identifies what you edited. Firebase Analytics also collects your device's Android Advertising ID. When we advertise ClipTools (for example through Google Ads), Analytics is used to measure which campaign led to an install or a first export.
- Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash and error reports: a stack trace, your device model and Android version, and which tool and export settings were in use when the problem happened. It never includes file names or file contents.
- Google AdMob — shows the ads in ClipTools: banners on the tool screens and an occasional full-screen ad after an export. To serve and measure ads, limit how often you see them, and prevent ad fraud, AdMob collects your Android Advertising ID and app set ID, your IP address (which may be used to estimate your general location), your interactions with ads and the app (such as app launches, taps and video views), and app performance information. How Google uses this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- InMobi — an advertising partner that bids, through Google AdMob, to show some of the ads in ClipTools. When it serves or competes for an ad, InMobi may collect your Android Advertising ID, your IP address (which may be used to estimate your general location), device information such as model, operating system and language, and your interactions with its ads, to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. See InMobi's Privacy Policy.
In the European Economic Area, the UK and other regions where it is required, you are asked for consent before ads are personalised to you, and that choice applies to Google and InMobi alike. Elsewhere, ads may be personalised unless you opt out in Android settings (see Your controls).
Analytics and Crashlytics records are tied to an anonymous, resettable identifier for your app installation, not to your name, email or phone number, and are processed by Google on our behalf. Ad data is collected by Google and InMobi under their own policies. All of it is sent over encrypted connections. We do not sell your data. See Google's Privacy Policy.
App-specific data handling
ClipTools reads only the video files you pick using the media picker. Processing — compressing, trimming, converting, merging, and every other tool — runs entirely on your device. Output files are saved to your gallery, and your original files are never modified without your explicit action. Nothing is uploaded at any point.
Permissions we request and why
- Media/video access — to open the videos you choose to work on.
- Notifications — to show progress and completion for longer-running tasks like compression or conversion.
- Internet access and the Advertising ID — to load ads, and to send the analytics and crash reports described above.
ClipTools does not request camera, microphone, contacts, or location access.
Children's privacy
ClipTools is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your controls
- Where your ad consent was asked for (for example in the EEA or the UK), change your choice at any time in the app under More → Ad privacy options.
- Reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. Once it's deleted, ads can no longer be personalised using it.
- Turn notifications off at any time in Android Settings → Apps → ClipTools → Notifications.
- Delete everything ClipTools holds on your device via Android Settings → Apps → ClipTools → Storage → Clear data. This also resets the anonymous analytics identifier and your ad consent choice.
Data retention & deletion
We hold no user data ourselves. Analytics event data is kept for up to 14 months and crash reports for 90 days. Data collected by Google AdMob and InMobi is governed by their own retention policies. Uninstalling the app removes all local app data. Because there is no account, there is no account-deletion process to complete.
Ads
ClipTools is free to use and supported by ads from Google AdMob and its partner InMobi, as described above. ClipTools has no accounts, subscriptions, or in-app purchases of any kind.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, and will change the effective date above when we do. Significant changes, such as a new kind of data collection or a new advertising partner, are published before the version of the app that introduces them is released. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
