- We don't ask for accounts and don't collect your personal information.
- Your statuses, photos and videos are processed entirely on your device and never uploaded to us.
- SaverOne shows no ads. Anonymous crash and usage analytics are provided by the Google services described below.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, files, or any account data — because SaverOne has no accounts. No server of ours ever receives your media, and we never see the contents of a status you view or save.
Data collected by third-party SDKs
SaverOne uses two Google services to keep the app reliable. It contains no advertising SDK and no other third-party SDKs.
- Firebase Analytics — collects anonymous usage events, such as a screen being opened, whether a folder grant succeeded or failed, how many statuses a scan found, and that a save, share or delete happened. These events never include file names, file contents, image or video data, URIs, phone numbers, or any message content. Firebase Analytics also collects your device's Android Advertising ID, a resettable identifier you can reset or delete in Android Settings. SaverOne shows no ads and does not use this identifier for advertising, targeting or profiling.
- Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash and error reports: a stack trace, your device model and Android version, and the app settings in effect at the time (whether auto-save, notifications and quiet hours are on, your chosen language and theme, and how many status folders are configured). This tells us which configuration produced a problem. It never includes file names or file contents.
These records are tied to an anonymous, resettable identifier for your app installation — not to your name, email or phone number. They are sent to Google over HTTPS, are processed by Google on our behalf, and are never sold or shared with anyone else. See Google's Privacy Policy.
App-specific data handling
SaverOne reads only the media folders you explicitly grant it access to via Android's folder picker (Storage Access Framework). It displays statuses that are already downloaded onto your device by your messaging app — including WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business, and cloned installations you choose to add. Tapping "Save" (or enabling optional auto-save) copies the selected files into your own gallery — nothing is transmitted anywhere. Revoking the folder permission in your system settings immediately stops all access.
SaverOne's Direct Chat tool lets you open a chat with a number without saving it as a contact. The country code and number you type are stored only in SaverOne's own local database on your device, so the form can be refilled next time — they are never uploaded to us or to anyone else, and the message text is never stored at all. You can clear this history at any time from within the tool. SaverOne does not read your contacts.
Permissions we request and why
- Folder access (Storage Access Framework) — to read statuses from the folders you choose.
- Notifications (optional) — to let you know when new statuses are available, or when auto-save has saved them.
- Background work (optional) — auto-save runs periodically on your device to copy new statuses; the copying itself involves no network activity.
SaverOne does not request camera, microphone, contacts, location, or broad photo and video library access.
Children's privacy
SaverOne is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your controls
- Revoke SaverOne's folder access at any time in Android Settings → Apps → SaverOne.
- Turn notifications and auto-save off at any time in the app's More tab.
- Reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Delete everything SaverOne holds via Android Settings → Apps → SaverOne → Storage → Clear data. This removes all local data, including your Direct Chat history, and resets the anonymous analytics identifier.
Data retention & deletion
We hold no user data ourselves. Data collected by Google's SDKs is governed by Google's own retention policies. Uninstalling the app removes all local app data. Because there is no account, there is no account-deletion process to complete. Statuses you saved to your gallery are your own files and remain on your device unless you delete them yourself.
Ads & purchases
SaverOne is free to use. The current version contains no advertising, no advertising SDK, and no in-app purchases. If a future version introduces ads or a paid option, this policy will be updated before that version is released.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Not affiliated with WhatsApp
SaverOne is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to WhatsApp Inc. or Meta. WhatsApp™ is a trademark of WhatsApp Inc. Statuses you save belong to the people who posted them — please respect others' privacy and get permission before re-sharing someone else's status.
